I often write on the back of the canvas thoughts, quotes, words, phrases that come to mine while I’m painting. This one says, “Courage, dear heart.” If you are familiar with the writings of C. S. Lewis, it is likely you will recognize the quotation and all the it signifies.

For those who are perhaps not familiar with the story of The Voyage of The Dawn Treader, the white bird in the painting references the assurance of help when the ship’s crew was surrounded by a deep and terrifying darkness with no apparent way out.

This painting was created as part of the Brand New Day collection, celebrating resilience and hope despite the failures, disappointments and challenges we face in ourselves and in the world around us.

I have tried my best to most accurately represent the true colors of each painting, but given the nature different screens and how colors are represented and interpreted, please note that there may be slight differences in colors in person.
